Radial Artery Catheterization
Supported by our highly trained medical staff, Radial Artery Heart Catheterizations are performed by Earl Hope, MD, Eric Elgin, MD, and Matthew Nolan, MD, as an alternative approach offering increased safety and improved patient comfort. When performed from an artery in the wrist rather than the femoral artery in the groin, Radial Artery Heart Catheterizations allow the patient to be out of bed immediately, thus shortening recovery time. However, not all patients are a candidate for this procedure. You can be confident that our team of physicians will guide you towards the procedure that is best for you.
Why perform a Radial Artery Catheterization?
There are many reasons why this test is performed, but the most important is to be determining if you have a disease or blockage in your coronary arteries. This will help us adequately provide treatment for certain types of heart conditions through procedures like percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI); otherwise known as angioplasty or stenting, or possibly determine your need for bypass surgery.
